Exhibition raises £1,300 to help fine cause in ‘challenging times’

The exhibition, at The School Creative Centre, raised £1,300 for the charity, which provides respite care and activities for disabled adults in the Rye area.

It was opened by Antony Penrose of The Farley’s Yard Trust, which takes its inspiration from the lives and works of Antony’s parents, Roland Penrose and Lee Miller.

They lived at Farley Farm in East Sussex which came to be known as ‘The Home of The Surrealists in England’.

The theme for this year’s exhibition ‘Me x 43’ displayed tiles made by the members, and received much praise and comment from the visitors.

Those attending included Rye MP Amber Rudd, chairman of East Sussex County Council Chris Dowling and the Mayors of Rye and Hastings.

Irna Mortlock, from ARRCC, said; “These are challenging times for all charities and voluntary organisations and ARRCC is not exempt.

“This very welcome contribution from the local community to ARRCC’s funds will help the Rye Centre to continue with their invaluable service for adults living with a wide range of physical and sensory impairments, and to continue to extend their main objective in enabling their Members to develop abilities, learn new skills and to reduce social exclusion.
