BUTTERFLIES: Two weeks ago I was only saying how few butterflies I had seen since the early days of spring, but I visited Sue Barnes garden one day this week and there she has at least six different varieties of buddleia, and they were hosting a wonderful display of peacock and red admiral butterflies, they were a joy to see.

FOOTBALL: On Sunday we had the first of the Amex’s football matches. We try very hard to be pragmatic about the stadium, and over the three seasons it has been open, we have tried to live with it patiently. But it is very frustrating for the villagers when we organise Sunday afternoon teas to raise money and then visitors to the village are confronted by the traffic and wardens. We do alert the wardens and they are very good, but it is no fun trying to battle the traffic jams just to come and have tea.

ST LAURENCE CHURCH: On Sunday we had a meeting to discuss preliminary arrangements for the 200 years’ celebration of St Laurence church and events which are being arranged to take place throughout the whole of 2017. We already have the football fixtures for 2016/17 but not the dates for the ongoing season, and for those arranging events for the 200 year celebration it is a headache wondering whether they will clash with the football.

FEAST OF ST LAURENCE: Wednesday is the feast of St Laurence and there will be a service at 7pm followed by a supper in the Parish Hall.

BUS STOP: We still have no bus stop at the end of the beautiful ramp and I have not heard of any news of what might happen.
