FIT FOR FOR THE FUTURE

AT the close of the consultation last Wednesday morning, local MPs Tim Loughton and Peter Bottomley- along with Kwash chairman Tom Wye amd campaigners who held an all-night vigil at Worthing Hospital, presented a 22,000 word response along with two lever arch files amounting to around 1,000 pages of evidence.

The submission, carried in a coffin, was signed by both MPs along with Mr Wye and neighbouring MPs Nick Gibb and Nick Herbert, who also backed Kwash.

The report set out the problems behind Fit for the the Future plans and shows clearly that the plans to downgrade hospitals were in place as far back as March of 2006t.

It showed that the views of the public have been ignored and that the involvement of clinicians in the plans was too late.
