Flats plan rejected

A BLOCK of nine flats to replace two existing properties in Dorset Road South near the junction with Cantelupe Road has been turned down by Rother planning committee.

Councillors agreed with planning officers who recommended that the application should be refused on the grounds of over-development.

They advised that the scheme would have a detrimental effect on the living conditions of the occupiers of nearby properties.

"Residential amenity would be particularly affected in terms of creating an oppressive outlook, overshadowing, overlooking and subsequent loss of privacy..."

Local member Cllr Deirdre Williams said she was particularly pleased to see the recommendation.
