Hide AdIrene, the youngest of four children, was born in Steyning but her main childhood home was in Hove. She was married to Howard in 1943.
Graham said his father and uncle had been in business in Brighton but when that broke up, the family moved to South Africa. It did not really work out, so after six months, they went to Canada instead. They lived there from 1948 to 1960 and Graham’s sister, Carol, was born in Canada.
On return to England, the family set up home in Worthing because Irene’s sisters lived in the town.
Howard died in 1997 and at that point, Graham took redundancy from Ford Motor Company and moved south to help look after his mother and aunts.
