Four Hastings and St Leonards drivers prosecuted over drink-driving

Four motorists from Hastings and St Leonards have been prosecuted for drink-driving in the town in the past two weeks in a police crackdown.

A receptionist, an insurance clerk, a civil servant and a cleaner were among a number of people to be found guilty after being caught drink-driving by police in Sussex.

To date, a total of 71 motorists have now been convicted as part of Operation Dragonfly, Surrey and Sussex Police’s summer crackdown on drink and drug-drivers, which ran from June 6, to July 10.

Linda Oulsnam, of Marina, St Leonards, was arrested in Clarence Road, St Leonards, on June 24, and charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

The 67-year-old hotel receptionist pleaded guilty at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on July 13, and was disqualified from driving for 24 months.

Oulsnam was also ordered to pay a £300 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Matthew Baker, of Parsons Close, St Leonards, was arrested in St Helens Road, Hastings, on June 25, and charged with driving with 76mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.

The 42-year-old insurance clerk pleaded guilty at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on July 13, and was disqualified from driving for 36 months.

Baker was also ordered to pay a £300 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Anthony Kerner, of Harold Road, was arrested in Harold Road, Hastings, on July 3, and charged with driving with 100mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.

The 57-year-old civil servant pleaded guilty at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on July 20, and was disqualified from driving for 24 months.

Kerner was also ordered to pay a £280 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Peter Bambuch, of Woodland Vale Road, St Leonards, was arrested in Tower Road, St Leonards, on July 3, and charged with driving with 77mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system and driving with no insurance.

The 46-year-old cleaner pleaded guilty at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on July 20, and was disqualified from driving for 19 months.

Bambuch was also ordered to pay a £190 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
