GALLERY: Revellers rock at Apulstock 2016

This dedicated music festival for adults with learning disabilities and their families or carers has gone from strength to strength since its inception.

Rachel Aslet-Clark, general manager at The Apuldram Centre, said: “The aim is that, through music, a sense of community and equality is achieved.”

Festivalgoers travelled from across the region and joined in with this year’s theme, Year of the Butterfly, either by wearing wings or having their faces painted.

Rachel added: “They were treated to a full festival programme of acts.

“As the sun shone, hundreds of revellers enjoyed the live music from the main stage arena and had the opportunity to rock out and enjoy themselves within an authentic and safe festival environment.

“The stage wasn’t just for musicians - there were Apuldram Hub Club members performing The Hubba and a formation street dance to Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop The Feeling.

“Natalie from FitJoy got everyone moving on the floor or seated with a fast-paced Zumba routine. Among the music, guests enjoyed watching the juggling skills of Tom Norfolk from Circus Ferrel.”

The festival opened with a calypso set from The Bamboo Band and in the afternoon, the crowd roared along with the performance from Apulstock favourites Iron Tyger.

It was Britonica who closed the festival at the end of a wonderful day, then hundreds of tired and happy Apulstockers made their way home.
