Generous donation to pram theft victim

The mother of a seven-month-old baby who was left without a pram after it was stolen has said she is ‘immensely thankful’ after being donated another pram.

Angela Russo, 41, of Queensway, Horsham, contacted the baby’s mother, Claire Harding, on Facebook after reading about the family’s struggle since the theft.

“I saw her story and thought it was awful,” explained Angela.

“You maybe wouldn’t expect something like that to happen in Horsham. It’s horrible especially with a young baby.

“I realised the type of pram stolen was similar to the one we have in our garage which we were going to give to charity so it seemed best to give it to someone who was in real need for it.”

The £700 Jane Slalom Pro pram was stolen from a communal area in Gardeners Court, New Street where Claire lives with husband Adam, seven-month-old Amelia and Imogen, five.

The theft took place some time between 7.30pm on Saturday, December 29 and 10.15am the next day.

Claire said:“I almost put my back out carrying her in a sling around town so I didn’t go out after that for a whole week.

“We’re just immensely thankful to Angela and I can’t put it into words.”

Angela handed the pram over to Claire on Saturday, January 5. She said:“I didn’t know Claire before, but when she came round to collect it I recognised her.

“We realised my daughter is in the year above hers at St Mary’s Primary School and I’ve seen her since which is nice.”

Claire added: “ We’re over the moon with the generosity and that something good has come from this horrible event.

“But we won’t be leaving the pram outside anymore and we’ll have to be more vigilant.”

If anyone has information about the theft contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 0459 of 30/12.
