She had been a GP at the practice for ten years and is survived by her husband Paul and their three young sons.

Dr Lewis trained in London and had a particular interest in children's health and women's medicine.

In her spare time she enjoyed walking on the Downs with her family.

Dr Mark Barnes, executive partner at Seaford Medical Practice, said: 'We in the practice are devastated by this sad news. Caroline was an excellent doctor, well loved by both her colleagues and patients.'

I would just like to add my condolences to Dr. Lewis's family.

She was my family doctor and both my daughters and myself attended her surgery in the last year and found her a very caring and kind lady and doctor.

Also, through my connection of working at Alfriston village store, I served her in the shop and know David Lewis too.

With kind thoughts.
