SUMMER SHOW: Windmill Hill Horticultural Society has its Summer Show at Reid Hall, Boreham Street between 2pm and 4.30pm tomorrow, Saturday. Entry is £1, children free. Free on-site parking.

DIG FOR VICTORY: This extremely popular annual event, a Village Show with a 1940s touch is from 1.30pm to 5pm on Sunday at The Merrie Harriers, Cowbeech. There will be competitions for vegetables, fruit, flowers, eggs. A companion dog show, human fruit machine, flower arranging, handicrafts and classes for children with medals, trophies and money to be won. The stalls and sideshows with games, auction, vintage vehicles and live music from The Warbleton Band all add to the fabulous atmosphere together with local Forces Favourite period dress, tea and cake, barbecue and beer. Go along and join the fun all for only £1.

PLANT WORKSHOP: This is a free event this Sunday at Lime Cross Nursery where you can attend between 11.30am or 2.30pm for a 30 to 45 minutes session all about bulbs and autumn borders. For more information ring 01323 833229 or visit www.limecross.co.uk.

WALKING GROUP: On Sunday meet Lita (946191) at Hailsham Leisure Centre for a walk of approximately 4 miles around the Lewes area. On Tuesday meet Sue (832016) also at Hailsham Leisure Centre at 6.30pm for an evening Hailsham through Magham Down circular of 4 miles. If you would like to go along, give the walk leader a ring for more details or to let them know to expect you.

VITALITY VILLAGES BOOKLET: Herstmonceux and local villages in the area provide facilities for its busy thriving communities with clubs, societies and activities for all ages. There are shops, post offices, a wide range of businesses, doctor’s surgeries, pharmacies, schools, village halls, fire station, recreation grounds, village greens and public houses.
