They have been emailed to the Gazette by James Margetts in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia, who knows little about them '“ except there are definite West Sussex connections and he would be happy to pass them on to someone who might appreciate them.

He found one particular old photo while clearing out his grandmother's house.

"On the reverse is the notation 'Susannah Lowe. Grandma to Marcus Medrington.' I would guess that the photo would be dated 1910 and it is a very good portrait-type photo of a matronly woman," James says.

"I spoke with my great-aunt, now in her 90s, and she tells me that Marcus was my grandmother's cousin and he died in 1988. I believe that he and his wife, Phyllis, both died in West Sussex.
