Hotham Park country fair in temporary move to Aldwick

This year's Hotham Park country fair is being moved to a temporary location in Aldwick.

The annual community event is taking place for one year only at West Meads Community Hall in The Precinct. It will be held between 11am and 4pm on August 9.

The change of location is necessary because Hotham Park is entering the final stages of a 2m-plus restoration scheme.

This means it is unable to host the popular fair staged by the Friends of Hotham Park.

Diana Strachan, of the Friends, said: "We received many inquiries from our members and craftspeople who were all very disappointed at this news.

"We, therefore, decided to relocate to West Meads Community Hall. The hall is an ideal location.

"We have received plenty of bookings and there will be a very good selection of crafts on show."

A large bouncy castle and face painting will be available all day for children.

Two Punch and Judy shows will start at noon and 2pm. Sideshows and refreshments will complete the attractions.

Money raised at the fair will be used to improve Hotham Park.

The Friends is donating funds towards refurbishment of the clock and tower as well as the replanting of the ornamental fish pond.

It is also hoping to add toddlers' play equipment and other fun items to the adventure playground which it funded.

These projects are in partnership with Arun District Council and outside the lottery-funded work in the rest of the park.
