GREETINGS: What a week to follow the snow. The lack of water all day Tuesday did make me think about the people in Africa who have no water except what they can fetch and carry. We do take it for granted, don't we? Squawks all round as soon as there is a problem.

CHURCH NEWS: The 9.30am Parish Eucharist for the fifth Sunday of Lent - Passion Sunday - will be led by the Vicar, Rev. Jonathan Meyer Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day, he who is the Patron Saint of Ireland.( I wonder if it will have any effect on the Six Nations rugby match between Ireland and England?!!)

LENT LILIES: The list will close on Sunday 18th, for you to name a lily in remembrance of a loved one. Lilies cost £2 for each name remembered, and envelopes may be found at the back of the church and in the Memorial Hall. Or speak to Janet Pegg.

LENT LUNCH: The last Lent Lunch will be on Thursday 22nd March from 12.30 to 2 pm. All are welcome for delicious home-made soup and cheese, followed by coffee. A donation to charity is requested. This takes place in the Memorial Hall.

WEATHER: “March brings breezes loud and shrill, stirs the dancing daffodil.” So says the rhyme. The wind was a bit more than a breeze and I was thankful that most of my daffodils are little, short, tete-a-tete. They are growing in paddy- field conditions and struggling bravely on. It is impossible to do any work. The ground would just become impacted. While waiting to be collected by a friend, I was delighted to hear a thrush trying out his song from a topmost branch. A really lovely sound at the end of a gray day.

QUEEN’S HEAD: The live music at 4 pm on Sunday will be played by Wasted, playing Jukebox music.

CONTACT: Do let me know of any event for which you would like publicity. Use the email at the top.

AND FINALLY: Short this week - nothing going on ! Have a good week.
