Zion, of South Cliffe, Lewes, made the news last year when the Express reported that he was conceived as a direct result of his parents Peter and Ilepele missing contraceptive pills after the flood.

Now 11 months old, he was christened last Sunday and, being too large for the family christening gown, wore a mini England shirt with Zion and number 9 on the back.

'I can see football is his second religion', said Deacon David Tutt, who conducted the service at St Pancras, Lewes, which was followed by a party for 50 guests in the Church House at St Michael's.

Said Peter: 'The shirt seemed an appropriate touch at a time when the England team is uniting the nation. Personally, I've always felt that football fills the spiritual gap in a largely secular society.'
