Littlehampton gang attack sends man to hospital

The 46-year-old victim was walking back to his car outside the parade of shops in Wick Street, at 11.45pm, when he was assaulted and robbed by the group.

After knocking the man to the floor the thugs then stole his mobile phone and keys.

The victim, who suffered cuts and severe bruising to his head as a result of the attack, was later taken to hospital for treatment.

Four men, two aged 21, one aged 20 and one aged 17, were found nearby and arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault.

They were all interviewed and released on police bail until 15 August.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to this assault and for another assault, which happened nearby on another victim who has not yet come forward.
