Littlehampton players aim for a perfect pirate performance

Littlehampton Players Operatic Society will be transforming the town’s Windmill Entertainment Centre into a pirates paradise for its latest production.

From Wednesday (April 22), the society will be staging the Gilbert and Sullivan classic, Pirates of Penzance.

It tells the story of a hapless band of pirates, and their inept attempts to abduct the daughters of Major General Stanley.

The cast includes Gudrun Lehmann-Shanks (Mabel), Frances Robins (Edith), Mandy Dukes (Kate), Hannah Butler (Isabel), Emily Dadson (Ruth), David Martin (Major General Stanley), Simon Smith (Pirate King), Daniel Paine (Samuel), Graham Carton (Frederic) and Jimmy Lynch (Sergeant of Police).

Directing proceedings is Stuart Box, who has experience of directing at the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in Harrogate. The musical director is Keith Smithers.

The show runs at 7.30pm from Wednesday to April 25. Tickets are £12, with Wednesday’s being priced at £10. To book, call the box office on 01903 722224.
