Man charged over alleged sexual assaults in Burgess Hill

A man has been charged, following a string of reported sexual assaults in Burgess Hill.

Robert Young, 39, a cleaner of Denham Road, Burgess Hill, has been charged with five counts of sexual assault, one count of assault causing actual bodily harm, and possession of a Class B drug (cannabis).

A statement from Sussex Police said: “The sexual assaults were in connection with an 14-year-old girl being touched on the bottom in Fairfield Road, a 17-year-old girl who was also touched on the bottom both on Monday (July 18), a 49-year-old woman who was touched in Norman Road on June 26, a 16-year-old girl was touched on Gatehouse Lane, Burgess Hill on July 15 and a 17-year-old also sexually touched in St Johns Park on July 19.

“He appeared in court on Wednesday (July 20) and was remanded in custody to attend Lewes Crown Court on August 17.”
