MINDLESS VANDALS - NEW REWARD

LEWES District Council has joined the hunt to find the 'mindless vandals' who have caused more than £300,000 damage to car park ticket machines in Lewes since they were installed two years ago.

The council, which owns the district's off-street car parks, has put up a 2,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of those responsible.

East Sussex County Council has already put up a 3,000

reward.

About 180 on and off-street machines have been damaged.

District council leader, Cllr Ann De Vecchi, said: 'Whether you support the parking scheme or not, this mindless vandalism does not benefit anyone.'

Anyone with information in relation to attacks should phone Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 or phone Crimestoppers anonymously and free on 0800 555 111.
