New Battle Light Opera production

TICKETS have gone on sale for the latest production from the Battle Light Opera Group.

Performances of The Drowsy Chaperone will take place at Battle Memorial Hall on May 2-4.

Presented from the perspective of a Broadway fanatic who plays ins favourite cast album, a 1928 smash hit called The Drowsy Chaperone, the show bursts into life.

The audience is instantly immersed in the glamorous, hilarious tale of a celebrity bride and her uproarious wedding day, with slick comedy, jazzy numbers and great dancing.

BLOG’s director is Bob Murray, who has directed for the group several times before with Richard Eldridge as musical director.

The female lead of Janet van de Graf is played by Jess Roberts and the part of the Drowsy Chaperone is played by Sheila Crighton.

The production will feature some newcomers, including Paul Sysiak, who plays the part of George, Rob Dyer as The Man in the Chair, along with some long-serving members such as Adrian Collins and Richard Moore.

Performances will take place on Thursday 2, Friday 3 and Saturday 4 May, commencing at 7.30pm and 2.30pm for the Saturday matinee.

Tickets will be £12 for Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. The Saturday matinee will be £10.

Children will be half price for all performances.

A drinks bar will be in operation for the evening performances, with tea/coffee and biscuits included in the ticket price for the Saturday matinee.

Tickets are available from cast members now and are expected to be on sale at Battle Post Office from April 8.
