New play equipment on the way at Brede

BROAD Oak Brede Recreation Ground Committee is celebrating completion of the first phase of it’s project to install new play equipment in the village.

The committee has so far raised an impressive £2,400 from fundraising activities and donations from, among others, Rye Police and Brede Farmers Market.

A sum of £4,500 was secured from Brede Parish Council as a result of a match-funding offer from Rother District Council.

Louisa Cooper, BOBs Secretary said, “This is quite a milestone for us in what is turning out to be quite a large project.

“Thank you to everyone for your support. These donations have swelled our funding pot total to nearly £11,500 which has allowed us to begin purchasing the first equipment which includes swings and a see-saw.

“But this is only the beginning – we need to raise a further £50,000 to reach our target so all donations will be very welcome! We have much more to do”.

The next fund raising event is a ‘Mods and Rockers’ evening, on December 10, with music, dancing and more! For more details or tickets (at £10 each) see their Facebook page www.facebook.com/canyouhelpbob or call 01424 883548 for tickets.
