Nicky has high hopes for charity party

Nicky Heard wants to see everyone in the pink on Saturday night.

She is holding a themed party at Sidley Cricket Club from 7.30pm and is hoping everyone will wear their best pink outfit - whether that's a tutu, fairy dress or even pyjamas.

The event is to raise money for Breast Cancer Care and Nicky hopes this will be even better than the one she organised last year.

"It was heaving," she said.

"It was so good - everyone really had a good time and joined in."

She was inspired to hold the event when her mother Maggie Barker of Bayencourt North was diagnosed last year.

"I did it for her - she loved it - and that is why I am doing it again, and I want to raise even more money this year."

Nicky, who has three sisters, said: "Mum has had all the treatment, her chemo and everything, and she is doing really well. But seeing my mum go through it made me realise what a big thing it is.

"It was really difficult - really hard - but we did cope and we have got a good circle of friends who helped with lifts, taking mum to hospital and visiting her. We have got really good friends."

Now she is aiming at an evening of fun, prizes and entertainments, and said: "Can everybody please dress up in crazy fancy dress, because I have got a really good prize for the best dressed person, and I also have some super stuff for the raffle, donated by local shops."
