The recent Father’s Day Breakfast in aid of Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice raised an amazing £100. The organisers would like to thank all that attended and supported the event.

21 members and friends of Ninfield Horticultural Society enjoyed their recent visit to the Walled Nursery in Hawkhurst. The talk on the estate history was fascinating, as well as hearing the hopes for the future of the beautiful old glasshouses. Lots of people bought plants too! Their next event is the Summer Show on August 16. Watch this space for more details!

Ninfield Bowls Club have had a few good results of late, having some good fortune while the sun shines. On Wednesday June 18, they played Battle and lost 60-92. Saturday June 21 they played Hastings Visually handicapped. In the past, this team have won against Ninfield and they always enjoy their matches. On this occasion, Ninfield won 57-24. Their Rother League match against Staplecross on Sunday, June 22 saw Ninfield win 64-53.

1st Ninfield Scout Group are holding their Summer Jumble Sale tomorrow, Saturday, June 28, 2-4 p.m. at Ninfield Memorial Hall. You are invited to drop your jumble off today, June 27 after 7 p.m. or tomorrow, June 28 after 8.30 a.m. Alternatively, if you would like your jumble collected during the week prior, please contact Dick Creasey on 07970559226, or Rosemary Cooper on 01424 892681. The group look forward to seeing you there to search for bargains, have a go at the raffle and enjoy some refreshments.

The Bexhill & District Community First Responders, who cover Bexhill, Ashburnham, Ninfield, Catsfield, Crowhurst, Hooe , Whydown & Normans Bay, will be meeting on Wednesday, July 2. This is at Bexhill Fire Station at 7.30 p.m., every first Wednesday in the month. If you are interested in finding out more please contact the Team Leader, Mike Dean on 07970024135.

Ninfield Methodist Church has ‘A Summer Picnic’ - all sorts of creative activities, a short celebration and a meal for children and parents together on Wednesday, July 2, from 3.30 - 5.30 p.m. (straight after school). For children ages 4- 11 years (younger siblings also welcome); but each family must be accompanied by a parent or carer. To help with catering please ring David (01424 892248) to reserve your place by June 30.

Ninfield Parish Council are meeting on July 3, 7.15 p.m. at Ninfield Methodist Church Hall. All residents of Ninfield are invited to attend.

St Oswald’s Church are holding their annual Garden Party on July 5, 2.30 p.m. - 4.30 p.m. Hooe Silver Band will entertain with refreshments, cake stall and raffle.

Ninfield Methodist Church are holding a Café Church Family Service for all ages, will include freshly baked croissants, jams & coffee / tea; & activities for young people; on Sunday, July 6, 10.30 – 11.30 a.m. They will be pleased to see you.

Ninfield Flower Group meet on Monday, July 7, commencing at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall. They welcome Gaenor Circus with her demonstration entitled “Ancient and Modern”. Non-members are welcome for a small charge of £4,00 which includes refreshments. All floral arrangements demonstrated are raffled at the end of the evening.

The Hooe Open Group are next meeting on Friday, July 11, when they will have a talk by Tracy Trimmer who is a BSc Hon. in podiatry (foot care). She will cover all aspects of well being for your feet. If you would be interested in joining in with a lively bunch of ladies, why not go along on the second Friday of the month to Hooe Village Hall, 2 p.m. For further details contact the organiser Edna Wallis on 01424 842591.

Ninfield’s Got Talent returns on Friday, July 11. If you would like to enter, please contact Sami Guard on 893669 or email: [email protected] by June 30. Big cash prizes are to be won! After the competition, there will be a disco until midnight, and of course the bar and bbq will be at full tilt! Entrance £2.50 Adults, Children £1.

It’s Ninfield Carnival on July 12. This years theme is ‘Children’s T.V. Programmes’. You don’t have to have a float as walking processions are welcome too. Cups and rosettes are given for best in each category. The procession starts at midday. Along with the usual craft stalls and refreshment tents, there will be a car boot sale and a range of games for the teenagers like Bungee Run! Also, in the smaller marquee, for the first time there will be “The Great Ninfield Bake-off”... get your recipes sorted and join in the fun, look out for posters and info! There will also be a Tractor Pull competition, so if you’ve got a team in mind, come and record a Tractor Pull time on a set course. The Evening event will be dancing to the sounds of the band “Sarah G and the Other Three”, and there will be a Cabaret in the break performed by residents and based on Animal Magic and The Jungle Book - come and see if you can recognise anyone! The Bar and BBq will again be in full swing, - Entrance for the evening is £5 for Adults, Children £2. 50. As always, the Carnival Committee is asking for help. The Hooe History Society meet next on Thursday, July 17, at 7.30 p.m. in Hooe Village Hall. They will be welcoming Bob Bonnett who will be giving a potted history of Sussex Windmills. Do you know where the Hooe windmill was situated? Apparently there is a difference of opinion, two distinct points of view. Perhaps all will be revealed on July 17!
