Northiam Conservation Society held its annual quiz on Saturday 25th January. A hundred quizzers took part with the victorious team (Over The Hill & Far Away) winning by half a point in the end. The winners each received a silver winner’s cup and chocolates. The bottom team received whistles for their efforts! The Society always includes a Northiam round, with questions and photographs relating to the village. This year the round was scored separately. At the end of the round two teams were in joint lead. Following a tie-break question The Northiam Numbskulls were declared winners and were awarded medals. Proceeds from the raffle at the quiz (£250) have been donated to ‘Help for Heroes’ in honour of the Society’s late member, Mr G Making.

This afternoon (Friday) Tom Hart-Dyke, horticulturalist, plant hunter and TV garden presenter, will be speaking at the Horticultural Society’s meeting at 2.30pm in the Village Hall. His talk will be about his World Garden he created at his home in Lullingstone Castle, near Dartford. It is expected that this talk will be well attended, so anyone intending to renew their membership on that day should plan to get there in plenty of time. There will be a charge for this talk of £2 for members and £5 for visitors.
