Number of fringe events at Bognor churches

Churches around Bognor Regis are joining in with the Bible Week.

A host of fringe events will spread the occasion away from its main base at the Royal Norfolk Hotel.

Each weekday afternoon between September 20-26 has two or three places to visit in a varied programme.

The churches will be hosting Christ for the Nations events or producing their own offerings.

The fringe will help to get conference delegates '“ some of them from as far away as Aberdeen '“ out and about in the afternoons and allow them to relax.

St Wilfrid's Church in Victoria Drive has three such events. An art exhibition by Chichester-based artist Helen Hiles should see her bold and prophetic canvasses have a big impact on the church's large spaces.

Computer buffs in the church are hoping to share their expertise with the practical offering of 'Get me to the church online! Serving God in a computer and iPod age'.

The church is also holding a seminar on mediation given by Chris Seaton of Peaceworks.

Another art exhibition is being organised by King's Gate Church featuring work by Christian amateur artists. The children at St Mary's RC Primary School in Glamis Street are opening their bible garden to visitors.

There will be the sound of singing at St Mary Magdalene Church in South Bersted at its singalong to the music of Roger Jones's latest Christian musical, Rock. Two seminars during the week also have stand-out subjects.

Janet Jacobs, from Pilgrim Homes, will talk about the increasingly important subject of dementia based on a recent book published by the organisation.

Sue Prosser, who recently appeared on BBC1's Songs of Praise, will explain how to stop dieting and start living.
