Help creative people in Rustington pursue their interests

RUSTINGTON’S St Bridget’s residential home for adults with a physical disability is seeking creative people to help residents pursue their interests.

One person wants to create a fictional detective story, but needs help to formulate his thoughts into a cognitive, clear account. Basic IT skills would be needed.

St Bridget’s is also looking for a volunteer to help residents develop photography skills, enhance their photos using computer software and produce a personal portfolio.

The Enable Me Youth Club is looking for passionate, enthusiastic, self-motivated people with a hands-on approach to help at the clubs on Mondays, from 4pm to 6pm and Thursdays, from 6pm to 8pm. This role would suit someone who is patient, empathic and comfortable working with children with varying needs.

Good Neighbours and befriending volunteers are needed to visit older people at home.

Tasks may include: carrying out safe, warm and well checks, chatting to and offering regular friendly, social contact, post office or prescription collections, assisting with shopping or food preparation, providing transport and general household jobs.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to make new friends, develop skills and experience enrich the lives of older people and helping them get the best from life.

The ideal volunteer will need a friendly personality, an understanding of the needs of older people and the ability to observe and identify areas of concern.

They will have good communication and listening skills with a non-judgmental attitude towards an individual’s circumstances and a willingness to ensure confidentiality.

Training will be provided and expenses reimbursed.

Cancer Research UK is looking for volunteers to work in their charity shop in Arundel. Volunteer retail assistants will be required to carry out some of the following tasks: help serve customers, sort out donated stock, ironing and steaming, set up window displays, use the till, admin and book-keeping and answering customer queries. Help is required Monday to Saturday with flexible hours.
