Different rules for Rocklands

I read in your recent article titled '˜Property developers fined for breach of planning application conditions' that breach of condition notices were issued and developers fined for breaches of planning conditions. This is to be welcomed.

I note that Cllr Kim Forward says ‘this result is excellent news and very important as conditions such as these are critical for people living near the new developments. Such conditions are a key aspect of many permissions and this delivers a strong message that violations will not be tolerated’.

It is a real shame that HBC are not consistent when it comes to taking enforcement action.

HBC have failed completely to take any enforcement action against multiple breaches of conditions at the Rocklands Caravan Park.

These breaches include wholesale destruction of trees, installation of caravans, construction of terraces, roads ,car parks, sewage systems and electrical systems.

These infrastructural works have contributed to changes in loading and drainage patterns that have created a landslip which has devastated the Glen and shut off numerous public footpaths.

All these unauthorised works are well documented and have been reported to HBC Planning.

To date no enforcement action has been taken.

We have to ask why are the rules different for Rocklands?
