Cat to pound streets in dog charity fundraiser

Cat Harvey, 26, of, Steyning, West Sussex will be completing 13.1 miles in the Reading Half Marathon on March 22 and hopes to raise £250 for the Charity.

Canine Partners trains amazing dogs to help with everyday tasks they would otherwise find difficult, painful or impossible, including opening doors, undressing, pressing buttons, and emergency response. The dogs increase independence, confidence and provide loving companionship.

Cat, Trusts and Corporate Manager for Canine Partners, which is based near Midhurst, said: “I am running for Canine Partners because every day I see these amazing dogs and the difference they make to peoples’ lives. I hear their incredible stories, and now I want to do my bit.”

The Charity, which transforms the lives of people with physical disabilities, will have a ‘purple army’ of more than 100 runners aged between 17 to 62 years old taking part.

Canine Partners CEO Andy Cook, who is also running the event, said: “This is a special event not only because it falls in our 25th anniversary year at Canine Partners but because it is the first time we have had more than 100 runners taking part.

“We receive no government funding and rely solely on donations, so every penny that is raised will go towards training our assistance dogs and transforming the lives of those with physical disabilities.”
