I thought it would be nice to have a mini challenge to get more people involved. Reading Matthew’s Gospel, which has 28 chapters, at one chapter a day, but also have a little word puzzle to solve as we read.

The answer is a sentence of seven words - 3, 5, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 letters.

As you read each chapter you collect one letter a day.

What follows is the verse number and word in the verse that you need for that letter, it is always the first letter of the word. You must use the King James Version.

Chapter 1 - Verse 18 - 2nd word.

Chapter 2 - Verse 9 - 4th word.

Chapter 3 - Verse 3 - 12th word.

Chapter 4 - Verse 6 - 11th word.

Chapter 21 - Verse 41 - 3rd word.

Chapter 22 - Verse 10 - 3rd word.

Chapter 23 - Verse 34 - 21st word.

Chapter 24 - Verse 35 - 1st word.

Chapter 25 - Verse 24 - 5th word.

Chapter 26 - Verse 13 - 2nd word.

Chapter 27 - Verse 61 - 14th word.

Chapter 28 - Verse 20 - 1st word.

This is to run alongside the 28 days that we read the New Testament in the Summer Bible reading challenge, so please don’t just look up the verses, get the answer, and spoil it for other people by telling them the answer.

Read the whole of each chapter each day and write down that day’s letter. In four weeks write in with the answer. This would be good with children.
