Kate, 27, who manages her family business at Marshalls Farm, Kirdford, was inspired to run the marathon having completed a half-marathon last year.

She has chosen to raise money for Horsham-based charity Action Medical Research with her run.

She said: “Apart from the excellent work that the charity does for babies and children, there is another reason I selected it.

“Action Medical Research is a charity very close to the family as it was founded by former resident of Amberley, Duncan Guthrie - my stepdad’s father.”

As part of her training, Kate spent a week in the Scottish Highlands, where running 20-plus miles over rugged terrain helped with fitness levels.

The course of the Swiss City Marathon winds around the shores of Lac Lucerne. It takes place on Sunday, October 25.
