‘New blood’ needed to help West Chiltington Village Show continue

The West Chiltington Village Show has been going for over 90 years and I’m sure most people think it will continue for ever!

The show is put together by a group of about 20 volunteers.

Many of them have been involved for years and some have indicated that next year will be their last.

The Show desperately needs new blood on the Committee to ensure that it will still be going after 100 years!

The Show is the biggest single event in the Parish and it’s a great way to meet new people and to be involved in village life in a positive way. Talk to any existing members and they will tell you that it is a rewarding thing to do and also great fun!

The committee meets once a month from January through to July and the meetings last about 90 minutes.

Committee members take on tasks that interest them and the monthly meeting is about reviewing how preparations are going and planning towards the big day.

There is a great variety of tasks that need undertaking including practical, organisational, ‘fund-raising’ and computer based jobs. There is something for everyone to get their teeth into.

The busiest time for volunteers is the day before, the Show day itself and the morning after – it takes over your life! Then you can forget about it completely until the following January.

We really need new people to get involved with next year’s show and to learn how it works.

So if you think it might suit you please contact James Mursell ([email protected]), Marty Smith ([email protected]) or Jackie Eggleton ([email protected])

We would love to hear from you and will happily tell you all about it!
