Olympian visits Farlington

Chloe, who won a Bronze medal with the British hockey team in London 2012, coached the girls from the Under-11 to Under-18 squads in the morning sessions and in the afternoon she did the same with Under-9 and Under-10 A-team players. She ran through a series of drills and gave the girls some excellent training tips.

Chloe also gave an inspirational talk to Farlington’s sports scholars, GCSE and A-level students about her sporting journey to becoming an Olympian. She spoke about aiming high and going for your dream, and the importance of planning and preparation.

Chloe, 28, made her senior international debut for the England women’s national field hockey team in November 2003.

She holds a World Cup bronze, a Champions Trophy silver and bronze along with two Commonwealth Games bronze medals as well as European Championship bronzes. She is one of the leading indoor hockey players in the UK and has a combined total of 162 caps for Team GB and England.

Sara Whittaker, Director of PE and Games, said, “It was a great honour to have one of the country’s top sportswomen at Farlington today. She gave the girls some excellent, practical coaching as well as an inspiring talk about getting to the top of her sport.”
