Linda’s Trophy is in memory of Handcross residents Frank Catlow’s wife who passed away and was cared for by St Catherine’s Hospice.

It was a family day with all of Frank’s family present to ensure that all teams had an excellent day playing golf whilst raising money for a local cause.

A hearty breakfast washed down with some bubbles, set the players up before they headed down to the putting green to get in a few practice swings in before the challenge commenced.

It was a beautifully sunny day as a shotgun start got players underway playing their first hole of the 18-hole challenge.

Frank has help in arranging the day from family members, his daughter Joanna and husband Gareth Browne who, with very busy working lives, help to arrange what has become recognized as an outstanding charity golf day that runs smoothly.

“We all enjoyed a fantastic day once again, and would like to thank all the participants and supporters for their wonderful contribution over the last 5 years. They have helped us to raise over £35K for St Catherine’s hospice New Horizons Appeal over that time,” said Frank.

The day raised around the £7,500 thanks to all those that gave generously with the raffle and silent auction as well as the companies that donate prizes for the winning teams.

Liz Kitchen, chair of New Horizons Appeal volunteer group said of the day, “I cannot thank Joanna, Gareth and Frank enough for making last Friday the amazing day it was, the happy buzz and wonderful people all mixing together.

“No one knows better than I that these days do not just happen, the amount of hard work that goes into the organisation of these events is endless. The money raised was fantastic.
