Please pick up the dog poo

I am writing to express my utter disgust at the unacceptable amounts of uncollected dog faeces in our public spaces.

On Sunday, January 31, my young family and I walked along the beach and promenade at South Cliff, we love the beach all seasons, and the autumn and winter months can be wild and exciting.

Unfortunately we have always noticed dog faeces on our walks there, and after Sunday I felt compelled to write to you because of the sheer amount that had just been left on the beach and prom. I ask your dog owning readers, who don’t already – please keep an eye on your dog and pick up the poo – please have some respect to your fellow citizens and the environment we share.

There are lots of non dog owning people who still enjoy the beach whatever the weather or time of year. Also while I’m on the subject, please can dog owners who use the pathway (between Little Common Road and Birkdale) that leads to Little Common School, also pick up their dogs mess – every school drop off /pick up there is usually at least one ignored pile of dog faeces. Perhaps it is time for the laws to change and dogs to be kept on leads, so no poo goes unnoticed!

This may also prevent the unwanted attentions of uncontrolled dogs whose owners allow them to jump up at people and follow the lack of control with, ‘Oh he’s ok , he won’t hurt you’.

I don’t know about you, but I do not like dogs jumping up at myself and certainly not at my children – but that is another letter for another day.

Please pick up the poo.
