Rose rings Christmas bells for charity

Rose McNeil hopes to raise more than £2,000 by putting on a Christmas Carol Concert at St John’s Church, in Springfield Road, Horsham on Friday December 5 at 7.30pm.

Rose, who is an Alzheimer’s Society volunteer fundraiser, said: “I decided to join the new Alzheimer’s Society local fundraising group, earlier in the year, as my husband Jim was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2007.

“I was his main carer at home until the time came for him to move into a care home in East Grinstead, where we now know he is safe and very well looked after.

“I decided to put my years of experience of fundraising for schools and the church to good use and organise the carol concert to help support others who are in the same situation as Jim and I.

“We want to help people to live well with dementia today and fund research to find a cure for tomorrow.”

Hannah Miller, Alzheimer’s Society Community Fundraiser for Surrey and West Sussex, said: “It’s great that Rose is giving her time to support Alzheimer’s Society. There are 2,115 people with dementia in the Horsham area.

“As a charity, we rely on the generosity of individuals like Rose to help us continue our vital work so that Alzheimer’s Society can continue leading the fight against dementia.”
