Sad to be going

I AM, sadly, leaving Sussex Police at the end of February to spend more time with my children. I have enjoyed working for Sussex Police so much and it has truly been a very difficult decision for me to make.

I have met so many of you over the past four years, as your local police community support officer, that it would be impossible to visit each one of you to say goodbye before I leave my role.

The past four years have given me so much experience; from being first on scene to situations where tensions are high or scene guarding, to paying regular visits to the more vulnerable members of our community and crime prevention talks.

There is not one aspect I will not miss.

I wanted to write to say thank-you to you all for making the past four years so enjoyable. In particular my thanks go to Tyndall, Kirk, Ivor and Sue who do such a wonderful job tirelessly co-ordinating Littlehampton Shop Watch, helping to keep Littlehampton town centre a safe and pleasant environment, supporting our local businesses and providing Sussex Police with such an effective link to our community – Tyndall, thank you for all the cups of tea!

I would also like to thank Marine Watch members, the Flintsone Centre, Arun Nautique, Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators, the ASB team, the Harbour Board and foreshore officers – the list is endless and not one of my initiatives would have been successful without your support.

But my biggest thanks must be to my colleagues, who have always given me tireless support and endless laughing fits.

There had better be a desk full of doughnuts on my last day!

I leave you in the capable hands of PCSO Kelly Mankelow and the rest of Littlehampton neighbourhood policing team and wish every one of you every success and best wishes for the future.
