Thank you for giving the Friends of Eastbourne Hospital appeal such prominent coverage in the paper on April 10.

I am pleased to say that the people of Eastbourne have not let us down, and we are delighted with the donations that have been received so far.

The total is increasing daily, but also we are also getting many requests for all sorts of things to make life a little more comfortable for all the hardworking staff at the Eastbourne DGH.

The appeal will continue as long as this situation demands, so please continue to support this if you can.

One thing that was not mentioned in the article was the generous donation of £5000 from Sussex Freemasons, who have also given the same amount to the other five large hospitals in Sussex.

Michael Harris, Chair of the Sussex Masonic Charity Foundation, said: “At this time of need, it is so important that we do all we can to help keep up the morale of frontline NHS staff.

“Sussex Freemasons fully support our incredible National Health Service and we are delighted that we can play a small role in helping them and making their working lives a little more comfortable in their ongoing battle with this awful virus.”
