Every year the Youth Club committee and helpers prepare a fantastic three course meal as a way of saying thank you for what they have done to help others and of course to wish them a Happy Christmas.

Preparations are made several months in advance and an invitation list goes up in the community Post Office in November, where those without transport can request a car to pick them up.

Everyone arrives to a welcome glass of sherry or mulled wine followed by home-made soup for starters. Guests are waited on by some younger members of the community, who amused the seniors by taking their orders on smart phones.

Drinks are kept topped up throughout the afternoon and entertainment is provided by children from St James School, Coldwaltham, singing carols during the main course. Dessert is served along with coffee and to round off the afternoon, a surprise visit from Father Christmas, who handed out gifts to everyone. A raffle was also held with many fabulous prizes kindly donated by local businesses.

A big thank you must be said to the organisers of the event who put in a such a lot of time and effort both before and during the day to ensure everything ran smoothly and that all guests had an enjoyable afternoon.
