Route is strange, but is the only one

Your correspondent is correct in noting the strange route of service 23/A but should appreciate that in some areas of town, notably in West St Leonards, this is the only service they get.

But it might be practical to re-route it slightly between Hastings Town Centre and Warrior Square to take in route 24, thereby releasing the vehicles on that route to enhance the reliability of route 98 which it jointly operates with.

If your writer really wants an unusual routing, then I suggest he takes the 99 to Pevensey Bay (Richmond Road) and then picks up Eastbourne service 55 (but check the timings first).

This is a 95 minute journey all over Eastbourne and the surrounding area incorporating Westham, Stone Cross, Hampden Park, Bus Depot, Town Centre, Old Town, and the General Hospital.
