So lucky to have outstanding vet

Once in a while it is an absolute privilege to know somebody who is truly outstanding.

On May 10, Stephen White hung up his vet’s stethoscope after almost 40 years of service to the Bexhill community.

We first visited Stephen’s original surgery in Sidley in 1993 with a tiny little kitten, who was at death’s door, and which we had rather naively acquired from a bit of a rogue without doing our homework.

Stephen saw us immediately, and gave some initial treatment to the little mite. He took the time to explain to us what was wrong, and then gave us some instructions which we needed to follow to the letter.

We did this, and our very poorly little kitten survived and lived to a good age.

We then moved to Kent but, in our 13 years away from Bexhill, we never came across another vet who came close to Stephen White, with his professionalism combined with such kindness and compassion – and always doing what was right for the pet, and its owner.

Indeed, upon returning to Bexhill and re-registering with Claremont Veterinary Group, we vowed that it would only ever be Stephen who would care for our pets, and so it was.

Perhaps what made Stephen White so special was the way he always made you feel that he was treating your pet as if it were his own. We have been so very fortunate to have him here within the community, and he thoroughly deserves a very well-earned, happy retirement.
