Please could you warn your readers to be careful with any phone calls they receive purporting to come from BT Openreach or BT.

Today I have received three phone calls allegedly from BT, each time stating there was trouble with the internet and slow/intermittent connections to it.

The phone calls came from 00110294576521.

Each call sounded like it was coming from a busy call centre.

The scammer(s) claimed to be from BT Openreach or BT.

When I put the phone down on the first two calls (male voices), a third attempt was made from a female.

I have contacted BT myself, who have assured me that they had made no attempts to contact me and that all three phone calls were scams.

They were worried at the number of scam attempts made and advised me to contact the police.

BT operate a system called Call Protect for their customers and I have now placed the above mentioned number on my Call Protect blacklist.

I have reported the matter to the police via their website.
