Founded by three highly experienced local Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs), and thanks to the generous support of the National Lottery, East Sussex Early Days CIC aims to provide free breastfeeding support home visits to parents within a 20-mile radius of Bexhill.

The company will be able to offer this support in parent's homes, and provide a supportive community for mothers navigating the early stages of breastfeeding.

East Sussex Early Days particularly welcomes self-referrals from parents who would not normally be able to pay for private lactation support.

The team at East Sussex Early Days has collective experience spanning decades and comprises passionate professionals who understand the challenges and joys of breastfeeding, yet offer a non-judgemental approach when supporting parents with breast or chestfeeding. Their aim is for parents to feel supported in their feeding decisions, whatever they may be.

"We are so excited to launch East Sussex Early Days and to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of new parents in our community", said Jenny Baldwin, one of the co-founders of the new venture.

"Infant feeding can have an enormous impact on the mental health of parents and it is hoped that early home support will enable parents to have improved mental health and better feeding experiences".

East Sussex Early Days already runs weekly volunteer-led Breast Mates support groups in Bexhill and Hastings and hopes, in time, to offer a range of services in addition to home visits. The service hopes to complement that provided by our NHS partners and other voluntary support organisations.

"We are grateful to the National Lottery for their support, which has enabled us to fulfil our vision of providing accessible infant feeding support to parents in East Sussex", added Alice Privett, another co-founder of East Sussex Early Days.

"We believe that every mother deserves the opportunity to breastfeed her baby with confidence, and we are dedicated to making that a reality."
