Haywards Heath shopping centre’s fruit hampers spread happiness

The team at Orchards Shopping Centre in Haywards Heath have been busy delivering lovely hampers - thanks to some amazing community support.

Centre manager Nicola Bird told the Middy she wanted to say a ‘huge thank you’ to everyone involved, and ‘to let our caring community know how much they’re valued’. “Since lockdown we have been delivering fruit hampers to the Princess Royal Hospital and Lindsay’s Animal School to feed her 120+ rescued animals as all her shows were obviously cancelled,” she said. “The centre’s team (myself, Graham and Daren), Quality Fruits and customers of Quality Fruits (our fruit and veg stall in the centre) funded this. When a further three weeks of lockdown was announced, we wanted to do more, however our own funds were running low. I set up a Just Giving page where people could donate. I wanted to start delivering fruit hampers to all our care and nursing homes as well as the animals, the PRH, the police, hospices and ambulance service. The page exceeded the target and we’re now on our second run out to all the nursing homes. I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone that donated on Quality Fruits’ stall and on the Just Giving page.” To make a donation visit www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/nicola-bird-1-letshelpnhs-carehomes.
