The film stars Channing Tatum as Mike Lane, a retired male stripper, who leaves Florida for London to help a socialite, played by actress Salma Hayek Pinault, produce a stage play.

Jemelia, who plays Zadie in the film, said she has been acting since she was a child.

She said: “I started dancing when I was two and got into acting when I was seven while doing theatre.

“My agent sent me a audition and after three auditions I got the role. I was up in London for months filming with the best cast and crew.”

Natasha Angus, Jemelia’s mum, said: “Jemelia has always loved dancing and acting from a young age. We were so excited when she got the role of Zadie and absolutely busting with pride.

“We lived the high life filming in London. Jemelia had her own chauffeur, called Keith, who we have become very good friends with as he's such a character. We stayed in the top hotels, working along side an Incredible cast and crew who made us feel so special. We also had plenty of laughs and have kept in touch with many.

“We are hoping that this film will bring Jemelia more work to continue her dream of acting. Jemelia’s nan, Pauline just can't believe what is happening and is super proud of her granddaughter. Jemelia’s brother, Jarvis is her top fan and always encourages Jemelia with everything she does.

“We went to Warner Bros to watch a private screening before the film was released and then watched on the release date at the Odeon Hastings with our good friends and family. We can't wait to see what the future holds for Jemelia.”
