Based on a full year of reviews on the travel website, prior to any changes caused by the pandemic, The Stags Head was given a Travellers’ Choice award for consistently receiving great feedback.

Stuart and Anita Webb took over as publicans of The Stags Head in October 2017 and injected £40,000 into the venue for a refurbishment.

They said: “We cannot believe that we have been given this award. It is a fantastic achievement and is down to the hard work and dedication of our team.

“Our local family pub in Westbourne is our pride and joy and we must thank all our customers for making this award possible.

“We have all experienced unprecedented times recently, but we eager to be able to play a small role in still being at the heart of our community.

“During lockdown we started a takeaway food service, which we are still currently operating, in addition to eat-in.

“It has been hugely popular, and it was great to be able to stay in touch with our locals.

“We have now been re-open since July 7 and it is great to welcome all our customers, safely, back through our doors so we can celebrate this award with them.”

Stuart and Anita have been no strangers to awards in the past year as The Stags Head was also named the Best Pub and Bar in Westbourne/Emsworth 2019 by the Restaurant Guru and crowned Gastropub of the Year (West Sussex) and awarded Best Sports and Live Music Entertainment in the LUX Excellence Awards.
