Great weather and a lot of hard work helped to make the weekend's Hotham Park Annual County Fair a hit.

Malcolm Hunter, a member of the Hotham Park Heritage Trust, said: “I think it went extremely well, we thought it was very successful and got the feeling everyone really enjoyed themselves.

“There was a lovely atmosphere, possibly the best we have ever had.”

He added ‘I think we were very fortunate with the weather’, and that while ‘the Sunday looked overcast to start’, it soon ‘brightened up’

Visitors to the event’s 15th outing enjoyed everything from clown acts and dance demonstrations to arts, crafts and alpacas.

Also entertaining the crowds were the sounds of Celebration Samba and the skills of the Canine Partners Dog Ability.

“I think we covered all bases, no one was left out,” said Mr Hunter.

People liked the archery, and the hawk and falcon display was very well received.

“A massive amount of work goes into it, however when you see people walking around with a smile on their face it all comes together.”

While the fair still boasted a lot of the traditional attractions that have made it so popular, Mr Hunter revealed it also took a new approach in terms of spreading the word.

He said: “This year we put out a lot of flyers and got them in to a lot of places which I think helped a lot.”

Admitting the ball will soon be rolling for 2017, with talks expected as soon as this week, Mr Hunter took the opportunity to welcome any aspiring volunteers to come forward.

He said: “We are always looking for new members, but having said that a lot come back year after year which is great.”
