East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) say they were called just after 8am this morning (September 27) to attend a building fire on The Green.

Firefighters from Uckfield, Heathfield, Lewes and Brighton arrived to extinguish the fire in the roof of the property, which originated from an electrical box in the building.

Crews used three Breathing Apparatus, one Hose Reel Jet and CO2 to extinguish the flames and used a Positive Pressure Ventilation fan to clear the property of smoke.

Whilst fire crews attended the fire, all nearby roads were closed, including the Village high street.

According to the AA, there was slow traffic on A272 running both ways through the village due to the fire, but now says the roads have cleared.

The ESFRS said they left the scene at 11pm and confirmed that no casualties were reported.
