Police appeal for witnesses

A 40-year-old woman was approached from behind by a man as she walked along a private road from the beach to the public footpaths by the golf course at around 3.30pm.

The man indecently assaulted her before she managed to run back to the beach for help. It is believed he had been on Climping Beach during the day.

He is described as white and in his 30s with very striking blue eyes, possibly enhanced by blue contact lenses. He had very tanned skin, short very dark swept back hair with longer curls on top and was of slim, lithe, fit build.

The man was clean shaven with a southern accent and wearing small bright turquiose swimming trunks, black shoes and carrying a medium sized dull-coloured rucksack on his back with two shoulder straps.

A thick dark green camping mat was attached to the bottom of the rucksack with straps.
