Sunley Estates Limited wants full permission for the housing on land south of the former Lowlands Nursery and outline permission for a new community hub and open space.

The development includes a new footway/cycleway link to the West Susex Alternative Provision College in Fletcher Place alongside the reconfiguration of the existing parking spaces.

A dedicated cycle route would run along the northern boundary connecting into Aylwin Place and the wider village beyond.

A hybrid application for the scheme has been lodged with CDC.

A decision has not yet been made on a separate application also by Sunley Estates for 39 homes to the north just of the B2166 at the former nursery site.

The proposed layout shows the 66 homes in the centre of the site with open space to the west and the community hub to the east.

A total of 30 per cent affordable housing is proposed within the development.

According to the applicant the scheme has been designed so views to landmark features of St Stephen’s Tower and the spire of Chichester Cathedral have been identified and carefully incorporated into the layout.

The application continues: “The proposals seek to provide a development of the highest design quality, that can deliver new and exciting features for the community of North Mundham, set within a new development that will provide both a significant and varied array of public open spaces combined with strategic connectivity as well as high quality housing.”
