Princess pays royal visit to Chichester art gallery
Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra visited Pallant House Gallery in Chichester on Monday, July 18.
The visit coincided with the 10th anniversary of the gallery’s contemporary wing, which was officially opened by HRH in September 2006.
The Princess was greeted by Susan Pyper, Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex, John Booth, Chairman of Pallant House Gallery and Lady Nicholas Gordon Lennox, Chairman of the Friends of Pallant House Gallery.
She was then introduced to the gallery’s directors Marc Steene and Simon Martin along with MJ Long from Long & Kentish, the architects who designed the new wing, before being given a guided tour of the gallery.
During the tour she met artists Laura Ford and Lothar Götz who are currently exhibiting at the gallery as well as Dr Gill Clarke, external curator for The Bishop Otter Collection: A Celebration exhibition and Katy Norris, the curator of the Christopher Wood: Sophisticated Primitive exhibition.
HRH then met with patrons, volunteers, trustees and staff.
Before taking her leave, she was presented with a copy of the Christopher Wood catalogue and some flowers by Esmé and Walter Judd.
