Prolific burglar jailed after raid on Eastbourne home

Michael William Brickley, 35, unemployed, of Cavendish Place, Eastbourne, admitted to burglary and theft of watches, jewellery and other property from a home in Jordans Lane East on February 8 when he appeared at Brighton Crown Court on Wednesday (March 9).
Despite his guilty plea, Judge Richard Hayward told Brickley it was his sixth strike for burglary and would receive a severe custodial sentence.
He has been jailed for six years and four months.

Hide AdResponding to the verdict, Detective Constable Sheila Bonell, of the Priority Crime Team in Eastbourne, said, “This was an excellent response to Brickley’s persistent offending and should serve as a timely warning to any others tempted to commit similar crimes.”
